The Roberts Hall of Science and Mathematics is a 64,000 square foot facility housing classrooms and offices for both the science and math departments at Culver Academies. Science teaching spaces for chemistry, biology, and integrated science are designed as combination lab/ classroom, allowing the class to move from lecture to lab effortlessly in the same period. The building also contains a circular shaped, tiered auditorium for large classes and lectures, and is equipped with state of the art audio-video-data projection equipment. Major hallways are single-loaded and provide excellent views of Lake Maxinkuckee.
The height and scale of the new building is compatible with the existing campus buildings. The exterior building materials match the campus standards - brick, lime-stone, and slate. Interior materials include custom maple paneling and trim, Italian stone flooring, terrazzo flooring and bases, and limestone accent trim. Each classroom includes custom casework to house multimedia equipment.
This project has received the 2003 Honor Award from the Indiana chapter of the American Institute of Architects, and has been selected as an Outstanding Building by American School & University for the 2003 Architectural Showcase.
ADG is the Architect of Record and worked in association with Ballinger Architects of Philadelphia on this project.
